The section about the sheer volume of Wall Drug signs reminded me. In our area, but especially along the highway into northern Indiana, you may notice an ABSURD number of billboards for The Hammer, an injury attorney specializing in accidents involving semis. I used to make this drive with my partner at the time because their hometown was in northern Indiana, but we made the trip so many times we started counting the amount of The Hammer billboards we saw. I think our record was well over 50. And once you start noticing it, you can't stop!!

What a lovely first entry. Wall Drug in particular sounds like a place outside of time, a true rarity these days. It's clear from the way you talk about your trip that you had an excellent time, and I'm looking forward to reading the rest.
